If your Mac has all-flash storage (an iMac with an SSD, or any recent Apple laptop), High Sierra will bring with it a new file system called APFS, or Apple File System. The moment that I saw Apple’s announcement about new battery health management in macOS 10.15.5, I knew that I’d have to describe it in detail here, so here goes.IN THIS CHAPTER Turning on your laptop Checking your Mac for proper operation Monitoring the battery and heat level Setting up macOS High Sierra Registering. But while you may not notice these changes, they should make your Mac more efficient, which can save you battery life as well as speed up tasks.MacOS Sierra v10.12 (previously OS X), macOS High Sierra v10.13, macOS Mojave v10.14.Of course macOS does provide more information about battery health. I’m afraid that if your model doesn’t have a T1 or T2 chip, it will almost certainly be unable to offer this new feature, and you’ll be left one checkbox short.1 Count on simple setup with HP Smart app even send a fax. In case you’re thinking that I’m trying to use this on a laptop which isn’t compatible, this is on a MacBook Pro 16-inch 2019. Monitor battery Battery tracker Battery status Monitor Battery. All in all, the Battery Inspector application is an useful addition to the default app kit in macOS if you’re the owner of a portable Mac computer who wants to closely monitor his laptop’s battery status. For the sake of completeness, here’s the modified version of the Energy Saver pane, with its new button to access battery health management features.Low-key and always at hand Mac battery tracking utility.(This means the CPU runs even slower than its lackluster maximum speed.) My 2013 MacBook Pro’s (original) battery, on the other hand, is still at more than 85% of its design capacity after 6.5 years and 499 cycles. It doesn’t have a battery anymore after the third one started swelling. I still have a working 2007 MacBook Pro. And that’s not all: when the battery reaches fake 100%, the charge indicator (in the menu bar but for older laptops also the orange/greed LED on the charge cable) indicate the battery is full… while it keeps charging until it reaches real 100%.I’m always surprised what Apple feels needs tinkering with and what they feel is just fine and won’t pay any attention to. Then, the battery would be charged back to 100% again. At some point Apple decided this was too confusing, so now 100% = 95%. You’d need to test this using an older MBP whose battery is suffering the effects of age.David: back in the day, batteries would charge to 100% and then in the course of a couple of days or so slowly discharge to 95% (while on the charger).I expected it to perform more like the 3rd party program AlDente which you have commented on earlier. This is not how I expected this to work. On 6/12, it slowly decreased % with the battery menu showing “Battery is Charged”, then “Battery is Not Charging” at 94%, then down to 90%, then started charging and right back up to 100%. Slowly went down to 89% with the battery menu showing “Battery is Charged”, then started charging and right back up to 100%.
Battery Tracker Sierra Mac Has AllMine is now version 2.45f4Can’t thank you enough for all the time you take to help others.Unfortunately, Apple doesn’t give enough information for us to decide whether it’s working, or doing the wrong things. I was wondering if you, or your cohorts, have also accumulated a database of the SMC firmwares for specific Mac models? And can implement that into SilentKnight? That firmware seems to becoming more and more important as it is now stored on the new T chips and that it may have something to do with all the kernel panics and sleep issues on the newer MBPs. I have seen numerous people having success with that program and they have said that when they perform a SMC reset after installing AlDente, the settings from AlDente go back to default, thus my next question:Do you know how the SMC firmware works? What does a reset actually do? Is a copy of the SMC firmware software stored in the system files and when a reset is performed does it overwrite the existing firmware on the T chip? Also, I have used your SilentKnight app (thank you very much again) to verify updated firmware. Cd duplication software for macTrying to compile a list of SMC firmware versions would be much harder, and we know almost nothing about their updates etc. It may be that the version number being given is for compatibility purposes only.Tracking changes in firmware versions across different models is difficult enough. This doesn’t restore its firmware, though, AFAIK.In your Mac, with its T1 chip, and those later models with a T2 chip, much if not all of the function of the SMC is performed by that SoC, and not by a traditional SMC chip. Resetting it puts those back to the way that Apple intended. Some apps like AlDente change settings within the SMC. I’m not sure that the effort of trying to build and maintain a database of SMC firmware versions would bring any return for anyone.
